Mohammed Bin Rashid Library is nearing completion

August 7, 2019

One of the most awaited new attractions is set to open its doors very soon. The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library was a part of the 2016 Year of Reading and is anticipated to open this year. The library is located on the Dubai Creek in Al Jadaf, which is expected to be a knowledge and cultural hub for people from all around the city.

The design of the library stands out as it takes a form of an open book situated on a rehl – which is a traditional lectern which contains the Quran. Built seven storeys tall, the library’s architecture is made to be eye-catching which can be seen from across the creek. All the water taxi passengers have a front seat view of the work in progress library.

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library will feature more than 4.5 million books (printed and e-books) after its completion. Numerous events, activities and cultural festivals are also expected to be celebrated on the premises. The wide area contained in the building also provides venues for exhibitions and features a 500-seat lecture theatre.

The International Council for the Arabic Language will also be hosted in the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library while also publishing the Mohammed Bin Rashid Contemporary Arabic Language Dictionary. An official date for the gate opening is yet to be announced, but the pictures of the Library are sure to get you excited.
